EPURON, LLC, last week announced plans to construct a 3 megawatt solar energy facility at the base of Waste Management's GROWS landfill on a 16.5 acre plot in Falls Township. The plant is scheduled to become operational in the second quarter of 2008 and will be known as the Exelon-EPURON Solar Energy Center. This power plant is scheduled to include 16,500 panels to receive the sun's rays which will be converted into electricity. Annual production of the solar energy facility will reduce yearly CO2 emissions and will be equivalent to the planting of 25 acres of trees per year. Falls Township is excited to welcome a company such as this into our Township. With the additional growth that is taking place at the KIPC, the Township is becoming a location where alternative energy companies do business.
