Live Here, Spend Here Campaign
Shop, eat and support the businesses where you live
That’s the message behind a new “Live Here, Spend Here” campaign that Falls Township launched.
In an effort to promote existing township businesses and encourage residents to spend more – or all – of their hard-earned money within township borders, the Falls Township Board of Supervisors announced the rollout of its “Live Here, Spend Here” initiative. Spending in one’s hometown not only supports the local business community, but creates jobs, strengthens the local economy and helps to lessen the need for municipal taxes.
A joint undertaking between the Falls Township Board of Supervisors and the Community and Economic Development Committee, the campaign’s objective is to promote a township business in an article which would be housed on the township’s Website and promoted on the township’s Facebook and Twitter pages.
The effort was the brainchild of Supervisors Vice Chairman Jeffry Dence, who said he got the idea for the program while working in Burlington County, N.J. That community has a similar business promotion program already in place and promotes it with a logo and stickers in local merchants’ windows.
Kicking off the initiative in Falls is a no-brainer for residents and the business community as a whole.
If each of Falls Township’s 13,000 households spent $20 a week that would otherwise be spent elsewhere, Dence said more than $13 million would be spent within the township.
