Plenty of family fun, food and fundraising are planned as part of Falls Township’s Food Truck Festival and Touch a Truck/Family Festival.
Slated for the weekend of Sept. 20 and Sept. 21, the two-day event kicks off with the third annual Food Truck Festival on Friday, Sept. 20 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Guests can purchase a variety of foods from seven food trucks while listening to live music from House Party. A variety of children’s activities and yard games will also be available. Adults age 21+ can purchase alcohol as part of a fundraiser for Fairless Hills Fire Department. Fireworks will conclude the day’s festivities.
The township’s annual Touch a Truck/Family Festival event will return on Saturday, Sept. 21 at Falls Township Community Park from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Featuring dozens of large trucks, excavators, towing vehicles, emergency response vehicles and various types of heavy machinery, the township’s seventh annual event kicks off at 9 a.m. with a sensory friendly quiet hour until 10 a.m. Truck operators will refrain from flashing their lights or blowing their air horns during this time. Touch a Truck/Family Festival also features balloon artistry, bounce houses, giveaways, vendors, as well as other free, fun, family-friendly activities. Food and drink will be available to purchase from Levittown Fire Co. #1 as a fundraiser for the fire company.
Spearheaded by Falls Township Supervisor Jeff Boraski and the township’s Parks and Recreation department, Touch a Truck offers a unique opportunity for children to learn more about how the various vehicles on display serve as first response, construction, electrical, farming, manufacturing and more.
Proceeds from Touch a Truck will benefit two local charities: The Goofy Gators, a Bucks County-based organization that provides services and support to children with autism and other special needs; and The Barkann Family Healing Hearts Foundation, which provides financial aid to families throughout the Delaware Valley who are in need due to recent tragedy or adversity.
Representatives from The Goofy Gators will be on hand throughout Touch a Truck to provide noise-cancelling headphones and calming activities for our community members with special needs.
Michael Barkann, host of NBC Sports Philadelphia, began the Foundation in 2013 and will make a special appearance at the Touch a Truck event. He will also choose the raffle ticket winner for a pair of Eagles-Cowboys tickets for the Dec. 29 game, another fundraiser for his Foundation.
Touch a Truck will feature police and fire vehicles, as well as two school buses, a tanker from the Township of Falls Authority, and Falls Township mowers and trucks. Event sponsors who will be bringing additional trucks and machinery include, Trash Daddy, Waste Management, Yard Truck Specialists, Crozier Contractors, SKD Tryon’s Emergency Vehicle Upfitting, IBEW Local 269, KPK Development, Premium Excavating, Grace Construction, United Inspection Agency, B.
