Goofy Gators Check Presentation

Falls Township’s annual Touch a Truck event has become synonymous with family fun. Kids of all ages enjoy exploring large trucks, equipment, machinery – and relish being able to climb aboard a Pennsbury School District bus – while also enjoying balloon twisting, bounce houses, meet and greets with mascots and more.

The wildly popular community event has also become synonymous with fundraising. Touch a Truck has raised more than $100,000 for local charities since it began seven years ago. Generous contributions from sponsors for Saturday’s event helped generate a total of $30,000 in donations, which was split evenly between The Goofy Gators, a Falls Township-based nonprofit serving the autism community; and The Barkann Family Healing Hearts Foundation, a charity which provides financial aid to families throughout the Delaware Valley who are in need due to recent tragedy or adversity.

Spearheaded by Falls Township Supervisor Jeff Boraski and the township’s Parks and Recreation department, Touch a Truck offers a unique opportunity for children to learn more about how the various vehicles on display serve as first response, construction, electrical, farming, manufacturing and more.

“We are proud of the continued success of our Touch a Truck event and appreciate the ongoing support of our sponsors,” Boraski said. “Our Touch a Truck committee will announce soon how nonprofit organizations can be selected as benefactors for future events.”

Saturday’s Touch a Truck event featured police and fire vehicles, as well as two school buses, a tanker from the Township of Falls Authority, and Falls Township mowers and trucks. Event sponsors who helped to break this year’s fundraising record are Trash Daddy, Rudolph Clarke LLC, Waste Management, Yard Truck Specialists, Crozier Contractors, SKD Tryon’s Emergency Vehicle Upfitting, IBEW Local 269, KPK Development, Premium Excavating, Grace Construction, United Inspection Agency, B. Blair Corp, Jones Engineering Associates, Barry Isett & Associates Inc., Armour & Sons, Carr & Duff, Red Box Dumpsters, Fred Beans, Victory Gardens Inc., Family Fuel, Britton Industries, Remington and Vernick Engineers, Just Stumps, Bayard Pump and US Municipal.
