The Falls Township Board of Supervisors continued its strong leadership with reappointments of its chairman and vice chairman during Monday night’s virtual reorganization meeting.

The board unanimously appointed Jeffry Dence as Chairman and Jeff Boraski as Vice Chairman. Dence and Boraski, both serving their second six-year terms, have served in those roles since 2020.

“I appreciate your confidence,” Dence said to his fellow Supervisors.

Other appointments included Supervisor Jeff Rocco as secretary/treasurer; and Township Manager Matt Takita as assistant secretary/treasurer.

The law firm of Rudolph Clarke was reappointed as township solicitor for what will be the firm’s 20th year representing Falls Township.

Jones Engineering Associates was reappointed as township engineer.

In other business, the Falls Supervisors set its meetings for the third Monday of the month at 6:30 p.m. for 2021. The first Monday of the month will be reserved for meetings on an as-needed basis only.

Typically, the Supervisors appoint volunteers to various boards, commissions, and advisory bodies during the first meeting of the year. However, considering COVID-19 and the inability for boards to meet in a traditional sense, Dence suggested postponing appointments.

“We will be coming back to that once we start having the regular meetings again,” Dence said. “We will be getting to that soon, hopefully.”

Despite the challenges, Dence said Falls adapted “pretty well” to the pandemic. For the new year ahead, the chairman said he is looking forward to a better year.

“It was a tough year,” he said of 2020. “Hopefully 2021 is a lot better.”

The return of in-person meetings is something Rocco said he looks forward to in 2021. The Falls Supervisors have not yet determined when that will be possible.

For 2021, the Supervisors are planning several projects, including the continuation of the annual road program and the full-depth reconstruction of Willow Drive. The township will also be undertaking intersection improvements at North Olds Boulevard and Trenton Road; and will finish adaptive traffic signal upgrades at Lincoln Highway, Tyburn Road and West Trenton Road.
