Basilio Dejesus Police Hiring

During Tuesday night’s work session, the Falls Township Supervisors hired a new police officer.

Basilio DeJesus, originally from Trenton, N.J., joins the Falls Township Police Department following a combined two and a half years police work with Baltimore City, Md., and later Rockville, Md. police departments.

“We’re really excited to have you,” Falls Township Supervisors Vice Chairperson Erin Mullen said.

Police Chief Nelson Whitney said DeJesus “finished very well” in the department’s selection process.

In other business, the Supervisors approved a memorandum of understanding between the township and Family Service Association of Bucks County for the Falls Bristol Township Supporting Recovery Program. Under the agreement, the township’s co-responder will split her time between Falls Township Police Department and Levittown-Fairless Hills Rescue Squad.

In 2021, Falls Township Police Department was the first in Bucks County to debut the co-responder program, which pairs a certified recovery specialist with a Falls Township police officer for overdose and calls related to substance abuse.

The program is funded completely through a grant from the Bucks County Drug and Alcohol Commission Inc. The commission pays the salary of the Family Service Association of Bucks County’s certified recovery specialist assigned to work with the police department.
